Before joining CAS, he was working at the Center for Human-Environment System Sustainability (CHESS), State Key Laboratory of Earth Surface Processes and Resource Ecology (ESPRE), Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University for three years as a postdoc. His studies focus on industrial ecology, urban ecology, and landscape ecology. His research develops bottom-up and spatial explicit models to assess stocks and flows in urban constructions now.
